"Trans It" used to be a store brand name for Performance Bike, the bike catalog company and later the on line retailer. The company went under but has now risen from the grave but is no longer the same company. Ahh for the good ole days of Nashbar and Performance.

Ah thanks, makes sense. Yeah I miss Nashbar too, mostly their winter sales. But I can get by with Amazon.

Yesterday I saw an old friend, she has a new bike and one of the racks like described above that clamps onto a seatpost. Hers is a Toppeak and had a quick release clamp. During our ride, she bumped her rack and it rotated a bit to one side.

She commented that a friend tried a rack like that but it crushed her carbon seatpost. So, only use a metal seatpost with these. I thought that was so obvious that it was not worth mentioning. But apparently is worth mentioning.

The Topeak interface has been around a long time and is slick. I don't know if they sell separate plates to bolt to the bottom of a bag other than Topeak.

I couldn't agree more about not attempting this on a carbon fiber seat post. Above, my seat post is aluminum and I even wrapped it with a few layers of painters masking tape so as not to scar the finish. Also this particular rack comes with two small pieces of flat rubber or shims that have been sized for the clamp that go between the metal clamp and your seat post. I glued them in place so they were sure not to move around and hopefully will add a layer of protection to the seat post.

Oh and I should have mentioned that the stated maximum weight to be carried is 20 lbs which should not be a problem for my use.

Worked well for 2-3 days of hotel hopping along the Root River trail in southern Minnesota. The rack didn't swing or move at all though this particular trail was fairly smooth pavement. Highly recommend both.
