Hammock - Hennessy or Clark?

I´m seriously considering buying a Hammock for my next long distance tour (Southern Tier and Great Divide up to Alaska).

But I see most people are recommending the Hennessy - why not the Clark? To me the Clark seems to be the most comfortable, but what do you think. Here in Denmark it´s impossible to see the real thing put up and I think the best way to decide what to buy is to see it in function.

All you guys who know the routes, what would prefer? a Hammock or a tent 1 - 2 persons?

There are no REI in or around Orlando Fl., so where do I find the best outdoor (camping) Store in that area?

The Hennesey is being sold for 139 Canadian, at the MEC.ca. That has a lot to do with why some of the folks are trying it. With all the bells and whistles, you could spend 440 Canadian for the clark. The ability to use the Clark in 6 feet of snow probably isn't all that useful.

I live in Norway and just bought a Hennesy explorer deluxe from a mail order shop in England (Whipperleys) for my upcoming bicycle tour. Very different from a tent, but I love the snakeskins. Check out http://hikinghq.net/gear/clark_hammock.html for a comparison between Clark and Hennesy.

From what i understand the Hennesey is a Brazillian style, so you lile diagonally and your back is flat not all scrunched up.

For the tour that you described I would not rely only on a hammock, don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of the Hennessy Hammock but there are many, many camp sites that will not accomodate a hammock. If you are stealth camping that number decreases quite a bit but there will still be places without anchoring points. On the other hand they are so light that you may consider bringing both an ultra-light tent and a hammock, best of both worlds.

OK, thank you so far. I did not know the comparison site - great!

I will learn from you Greg, I know you have the experiences from a recent tour in the areas. I think in the same way as you, the hammock is so leight that I will consider taking both a tent and a hammock.

Hennessy or Clark? I will wait and see over there, but I like very much the cover of mosquito net in the Clark - you are protected and are still allowed to look out.

Those reviews were interesting. The Hennesey reviewed was the UL version. There is a much cheaper version that has the 250 pound rating, and 1800 pound ropes. It looks identical to the UL other than the heavier fabrics.

I'm still trying to decide on which Jungle hammock myself. Heres another to consider:
