mysterious braze-ons

Hi -

I've got an older Bianchi Axis that I bought used. It's lugged steel, and I'm guessing from the late 80's or early 90's.

It has lots of cool braze-ons that bikes used to have, including a pump peg, chain hanger, and rack/fender mounts.

It also has two that I can't identify. Both are water-bottle type bolts. One is halfway down the downtube, on the right side, below the shifters, and the other is on the seat tube, facing forward, just above the water bottle bolts. It looks like a third bolt, lined up with the other two for the water bottle, but too close to hold another cage.

I thought I knew a lot about bikes, but this has got me stumped. What the heck are these bolts for?

Yea, pics would be better.

I have an old Raleigh (early 80s) that has a braze-on on the down tube on the bottom side. It's for a braze-on flickstand. I haven't found one yet...

Or they could be for tire protectors which would just barely miss the tire but when you rode the bike and picked up a thorn or glass or whatever the protector would flick it off the tire before the tire rotated and pushed it all the way in when the object rolled over the road.

But the ones I've ever seen connected to the brake bolt...so I could be wrong.
