V-brake levers and Handlebar type
 

I am building up a Surly Long Haul Trucker for heavy touring and want to install Vertical Pull brakes. I'm having trouble finding/identifying levers for V-Brakes that will fit on a road bike handlebar.
I would welcome any suggestions for levers and/or lever/brake combos. I'm also going to install Dura-Ace Bar end shifters.

DiaComp 287-V road levers will work with V-brakes. I've got a pair myself.

Or you could just use some "travel agents", and then use whatever road levers ya like (I use Cane Creek TT200's)

Those Diacomp 287s work w/o travel agents. Perfect combo, since you are using the bar end shifters. That is the standard on the trek 520.

287s's are standard road levers meant for traditional cantis. I doubt they provide enough cable pull for V-brakes unless you use travel agents. Otherwise you'll get a very mushy action and brake pads must be positioned very close to the rims.

What they said. Note that the Dia-Compe 287 and the 287-V are two different brake levers! The 287-V is designed for use with v-brakes, the 287 for traditional brakes.

If you decide to use cantis instead of V-breaks, I recommend the Cane Creek brake levers. I've used them for several months and just put them on my fiancee's LHT. They seem to pull more cable than regular road levers (or at least the ultegra sti levers I used to use.)

In fact I use 287-V's with traditional XT cantis. That extra pull creates a rock solid action in the levers which I like.....although I know I'm giving up a bit of mechanical advantage by using V-levers on non-V brakes, but this pairing at least for me work very well.
