Research: Anyone Looking for?

A friend of mine is now in his 80's and still has his almost new 55 cm (I think) Bob Jackson touring bike with Bruce Gordon racks and just about everything you need on a touring bike. It is in pretty much pristine condition and only has a couple of California Alps tours on it.

I'm not sure of the year of the frame (yellow and green two-tone as I recall) since I can't recall if it was ordered in '96 or so or was an older frame that Dennis Stone had in his shop. No matter since the new bikes are still pretty much the same.

I told him that I believed the bike to be worth about $1500. Would people be interested in it for that price? He wants someone that's going to use it for touring to get it because it was a present to him from a very good friend who wanted him to be able to tour on it. He succeeded but then caught Encephalitis which crippled him and he can no longer ride.

Not to pull out the completely obvious response, but one would probably want pictures and a complete run-down of components in order to begin to assess the price.

Look, I'm not going to have a cripple worrying about pictures of a nice touring bike if there's simply no market for it. If I had pictures and complete rundowns I'd simply post it on the for sale group and see what developed.

It says plainly in the header "Research". I'm not selling anything. I want to know if there are people who are willing to spend money on anything other than a $200 touring bike or a $4000 Bruce Gordon bike.

Please don't misunderstand, this isn't something I'm selling unless it would help him. And like I said, he wants a GOOD touring bike to go to someone that will use a good touring bike and not slip it into the garage where it will sit for the next half century.
