Specialized Sirrus '05 review/comments

Hi, I'm looking into buying a 2005 Specialized Sirrus.
Anyone here own one and can share their experience?
(won't be looking to do any heavy loaded touring, I already
have a touring bike, but just very light touring or just
no-load rides on Sirrus)

I am basically looking for a road bike w/ flat handlebar.
I did a couple of test-rides and the fit was very good.

I read many good things and also several bad things
(especially poor wheelset and crankset). I thought there
may be some in this newsgroup who ride Sirrus and
can pass on some info.

Thank you.

A friend of mine had one. When it got stolen he replaced it with a Bianchi Volpe touring/cyclocross bike and was much happier. Depending on what touring bike you already own, the Sirrus is hardly an improvement in any way for any type of riding. I would suggest spending the money on upgrades for the touring bike instead. Or save for a much nicer bike. A regular road bike with 105 or Ultegra components would be a nice alternative. Much lighter and zippier than a touring bike. If you insist on flat bars, one of the higher end Sirrus models, the Novara Express (REI), Marin Highway One, or Bianchi Strada would be a better choice.
