How wide of a tire can I go?
The Good All-Around Tire thread made me think. I want to prepare my road bike for a tour and I want to add wider tires. How do I kow how wide of I tire I go? I am currently using 25C tires on a Cannodale SR500.
How wide can I go?
How wide should I go for mostly roads?

Most road bikes will take a 28 in the rear and some forks a 25.

A SR500? Or just a road bike? Does the model matter?

How about taking your bike down to your LBS and trying to fit a few wheels with wide tires to see if they work? Hybrids usually have wider tires. You want be sure that you have brake and fork clearance.

A good place to look is here: https://sheldonbrown.com/tire_sizing.html The widest tire you can fit will depend on your rim and your frame clearance. Look at your current tires - are they pretty close to the frame? Is there room for a larger tire? Wider tires are likely to be taller as well.
