Tour with an '01 Bianchi Volpe?

I like the Bianchi Volpe (test rode the '01 model.) My question: anyone here actually use this bike for touring and can provide some feedback?

Thanks.

From what I have read the Volpe makes an excellent touring bike. Go to sheldonbrown.com and read what sheldon has to say about the Volpe. I came very close to buying one about a year ago. I think it was a 2000 model, just my size, in a dark green that no one seemed to want. My LBS was making an offer I could hardly refuse. Unfortunately someone else snapped it up in about a week. Too bad. In another week I think I could have had my wife talked into it. Her argument was that I had just bought a new bike a few months earlier. Yeah, like THAT has anything with NEEDING another one.

Thanks for the input. Just curious, what was the LBS offer on the 2000? I'm trying to figure out what kind of bargaining power I'll have for the 2001.
