Anyone from WI that woul be interested in getting a week/weekend short tour planned for this spring/summer?
I am in Appleton but am open to anywhere in the state. Thinking about doing possibly a Door County camping tour. Anyone interested in something like this?

I am thinking a week long trip around the peninsula. Take time to enjoy all it has to offer.
(lots of wineries up there). Camping is the prefered sleeping arangements. Lots of great things to see and enjoy in the county.

Ahhh... I spent much time in the Fox River area when I dated an Appleton lass (circa late 80's), must be great to ride out in those rolling hills west of 41 and sniff all that Dairy Air!

I am from Western Wisconsin If you make your way over here there is some great riding along the Mississippi and some nice hills through and over the river valleys

Yup that Dairy air is great man. I grew up on a farm so that doesn't bother me at all.

I'm from Beloit and am planning to ride the Great River Road Bike route from Prescott down to Prairie du Chien. Possibly truning off at LaCrosse to head over to Sparts on the LaCross River State Trail then down to Elroy and continuing on the 400 trail to Reedsburg. Planning on staying in motels and doing 50 or so miles a day.

I did that route last summer without the LaCrosse turnoff. Traffic south of LaCrosse on the GRRB was pretty rough on a Saturday. They were also cutting some new scenic overlooks on the road which made for some very narrow nerve-wracking passages through construction zones. Your turnoff down towards Sparta, Elroy and Reedsburg is probably a better option than going through to Prairie du Chien.

Oh yeah, the route the state map sends you on through LaCrosse is highly amusing. It's a combination of bike trails, neighborhood roads, industrial service roads and bike lanes that can get a bit confusing.

And one more thing... If you find a couple of small parts for a SciCon pannier attachment system in the gutter in Pepin, let me know. They're mine. :)

Yes La Crosse can be busy unless you know your way arround actually it isnt bad at all unless you get into traffic. That construction on 35 south of La Crosse is finished and along with it is anice wide paved shoulder. Weekends are busy on 35 it is a popular destination

I would definately be interested in setting up a tour with a few folk. I currently live in Cable, WI (way north) but I am from Green Bay originially.

This summer will be my first in 6 years that I will not be on tour (former professional loaded guide), so I will be needing to get out on tour.

A few places that I really enjoy..... north shore of lake superior...... chequamagon national forest..... river bluffs between red wing, MN and lacrosse, WI...... door county....... around whitewater, wi.......

I am planning on riding the Grand Illinois Trail in late May. The route takes me into the southern part of Wisconsin. I need to take pictures at Lake Le Aqua Na, but can deviate my route heading East from there.My goal is to ride a 55 mile per day average.

I will be riding from River Falls to Woodstock, Il the last week of June. I am planning on taking the GRR to Trempeleau then taking the bike trails all the way to Reedsburg. Planning on camping in state parks along the way. This will be my first loaded tour.

Hi: I'm from Plymouth area and there's a group (8) of us doing the Northwoods tour from La Crosse to Sheboygan from June 17 -24.

Michael you'll be able to tell what group I'm with, my father in-law rides with a full face helmet, he's 76 this year so we are on the rode early most days so I'm sure you'll pass us by. But we're usally the first ones in the nearest tavern after we get into town.

Dannwilliams: Sounds like a nice trip. I live about 15 mi. N of RF and generally ride to the north and east of RF, and occasionally make it into town. Since it is your first loaded tour, send me a PM if you would be interested in doing a day or two shakedown ride in the area before you head out.

I'll be doing the SAGBRAW in August with a family group and am anxious to get back to Door Co. again. Some of us did the GRABAAWR back in '89 and haven't ridden as a group since so it should be fun.

I replaced my tent and panniers this year and would like to do a ride to or near Ladysmith sometime this summer. If anyone is interested send me a PM.

Touring the Door pennisula is not what is used to be (say... during the 70s)
Too damn busy and crowded
ONce you get into the State Park it's okay but otherwise it's too damn busy for me anymore
The UP is not so dynamic, but there are free campgrounds every 10 miles or so

Hey Jeff and Michael, I"ll be on the Bikenorthwoods tour as well, second year, but this year we (mindy and I) will be site coordinators one day. If you were on last year, we made fools of ourselves at the Talent Show singing 'Do Hydrate!' with some friends, about drinking plenty of water and "peeing more clearly"

Perhaps we shall collect a 'loose' list of Forum riders who will be on the tour and seek each other out.

Last year I was amazed at two blokes, each 79 years
old, who rode the tour!

I remember that skit you guys did it really wasn't that bad, my father in - law was disappointed that he wasn't the oldest rider last year, he was a young 75. Last year we had eleven riders from this area, this year it looks like we will have about eight riders from our group. Sheboygan area will be well represented, and we're planning a tour party in La Crosse to get us in the right frame of mind for the ride back to Sheboygan. The brats and beer will be ridden off on Sunday.

I ride with a couple groups of roadies and many of the rides go north to Boardman and Hammond and places between. Also a favorite is from RF down to Diamond Bluff on the Mississippi, with the 1.2 mile uphill on WI35. But a beautiful ride.

My shakedown ride I was going to ride up to Interstate State park, then someplace in MN and then back. My problem is getting 3 days in a row off (retail). And maybe a couple of one nighters.

I've occasionally gone with Steve's Wed evening group out of RF and have done the Diamond Bluff route so maybe we've ridden together in the past. I usually can't make it down there early enough to make the rides though. Good luck on your tour.
