Created a Monster!!
I'll post pictures in a week when I get back from Tucson. New tour setup finished today and weighs in at 33lbs!!!!! Started out as a 1991 Trek 750,
NOS 40 hole Specialized tandem high flange hubs spaced 135 solid axel, NOS Velocity Synergy with wheel straight 14 gauge dt spokes, NOS Sach 8 speed free wheel 13-30, New B-17 large rivet, Specialized touring cranks 46-36-26, Surly Nice rack up front, Blackburn ex1 in rear, Freddy fenders, Nitto Classic bars, durace bar shifters, Nitto Technometer stem, 32 Schwalbe Marathon Pluses for tires, Thompson seatpost, Shimano 535 pedals - but 33 ibs ouch! Maybe I over did it. What do your tour bikes weigh?

I don't know what my touring/commuter weighs, but I know it's heavy. Anyway, I tend to pack heavy when I tour, so it's not an issue.

My bike is 32 lbs empty and I started taking a trailer on my commute in order to raise the weight preparing for my tour. Can't say it is light.

Sounds like I am in the range of reasonable it's that front rack - it added 2 lbs over my Tubus Tara - nun at 26 ibs you must be flying - My Waterford with racks is closer to 30. Thanks guys.

My tourer is also my commuter. I don't think I've ever had it naked. I know I weighed in just before my Colorado to KC ride and came up with 95 lbs fully loaded. It rode like a dream.....

This is encouraging. I've been considering replacing my hybrid with a LHT, and, while I never really worry about weight in general, I was concerned that I'd be in for a shock when I replaced my aluminum frame with good, old-fashioned steel, so I just weighed my commuter: with racks, fenders, and a couple of small tools hooked on (multi-tool, headlight, battery, pump) it came in at 38 lbs. So maybe switching to a touring bike won't be the shock to my system I was expecting.

Bontrager Maverick rims on Ultegra hubs, Ultegra crank, LX/105, Salsa Short & Shallow with bar-cons, Vittoria Randonneur Pro 35/37c tires, Axiom Journey racks, etc.
The Soma Double Cross comes in 5 lbs. lighter with Open Pros, 32c Randonneur Pros, no front rack(s), and a lighter duty rear rack but I don't feel as though it can handle more than a 30 lb. load.
