Paper back sized PC with no keyboard? Isn't that a PDA?

Sounds like Microsoft is tring to make a Psion Teklogix. The Psion had a keyboard + sensitive screen and a full working day of battery life. It's not a games/entertainment machine but can run writing/browsing/email/database software enough for work applications.

Oh yes... the Origami project. The latest buzz is that it may be something like a small tablet pc, bigger than a PDA, but much more powerful and usable. I hope that IS what they are aiming at, it would fill a number of needs in my mind. I think that the Apple Newton (which was the original PDA if you like) was a fantastic idea, but died due to price, people not yet having the notion of 'mobile computing', and that the hardware and software at the time were not up to what the system required in the real world.

I have to admit, once I started reading the latest buzz-bits coming out, the first thing that came to mind is "Great for touring"

As for myself... I'll wait until they get a computer/gps/mp3 player/camera/phone/large hard drive/pda on the market. Something like this but with a large hard drive.
