Have you ever stealth toured in florida / Georgia? I am doing my first real tour next week, and will be heading either north into georga, or west from jacksonville. I am feeling some butterfly's in my stomach because it is just a few days away, and even though I have done everything I possibly can to prepare, it is still new... Are there any florida specific rules that I need to know as far as wild life? obviously there are snakes, but I know how to avoid them for the most part... is there any other wildlife that I may encounter that I need to be prepared for??? Please don't make fun... I know I am leaving myself wide open here for jokes...

Sounds like you may be concerned about becoming gatorbait,lol.
Seriously, I have stealth camped and backpacked around Florida and find the major concern to be animals such as racoons,deer,wild pigs etc. staking out the campsite and trying to steal food.So if you are tarping,using a hammock or sleeping under the stars you may want to hang your food as a precaution.Probably a good idea with a tent as well ,but I just keep everything in the tent where pesty critters can't get to it. There are bears in N.Florida but few if any reported incidents of them attacking or bothering humans.Near inland waterways or swamps ,of course, there will gators but they tend to avoid humans if you do the same . I have camped and even slogged around in swamps at night with no problems,and often even camp on levees next to gator infested canals in the Everglades.Snakes,I don't worry about while camping, I'm more concerned about accidentally stepping on one while hiking so always try to stay alert.
Also try to get far enough from civilization that barking dogs or even noisy roosters are not a problem.The later, I just read about some stealth campers in N.Fl. experiencing.

The only wildlife you really need to worry about in N. Florida is the two-legged variety, but usually only when they're on four wheels.
