My list might be different if you ask me tomorrow, but here goes:
- Thermarest NeoAir Sleeping Pad - reduced load and improved comfort substantially over the already excellent self inflating Thermarest pads.
- Sidi Bullet 2 Shoes.
- Prescription Sunglasses - Rudy Project Horus with Transitions lenses with my bifocal prescription and the reading portion set very low in the lens.
- Cheap Nashbar Panniers - Light, waterproof, durable, and cheap.
- iPod Shuffle Loaded with Audio Books - Weighs much less than one paperback and holds enough books for a coast to coast tour.
A few items that deserve honorable mention:
- MSR Fling tent
- Pearl Izumi Ultrasensor shorts
- Continental Ultra Gatorskin tires
- Nokia N800 Internet tablet - 7 ounces and replaces pen and paper and allows updating journal by WiFi
- Nikon Coolpix S550
- A small "real" pillow - $7 from a fabric store, about 11X14", stuffs in the same compression sack with my sleeping bag.
