anyone using old man mountian racks?

I just picked up my rear cold springs rack yesterday and can't seem to get it to fit right. The instrctions were pretty vauge so it took some guess work. The probelm i'm having with them is when i clamp the QR it seems to compress my cassette and disc brake caliper. Even when it is fairly loose it still does this. I tried shimming the mounts with washers to get a flater contact, but this doesnt seem to work.

The hardware the rack came with didn't include any springs for the QR, so I left them out. not sure if i need to include these. Thanks for your help.

i have read that omm provides excellent customer service. you should contact them directly with your problem.

they offer several models (or rather supplemental hardware kits), maybe you have the wrong one.

i cant understand how you're having the symptoms you have described.

I got an OMM Cold Springs (disc) rear rack... I use it on my HT. I'm not sure what you mean by "compressing" your cassette and disc brake caliper. I know that the QR mechanism is supposed to compress the hub a bit when it's locked-down (this is why you build a QR hub a touch loose) but I don't know how it would compress your cassette.

I know that when I ordered my OMM rack, I had to specify "DISC" on my order. Are you sure you got a DISC rack? Call or email OMM, Channing is a good guy and he'll help you with whatever problem you've got.

On a side note: I'm not sure what those springs on the QR skewer do exactly but I transferred mine over from my old ones when I mounted the Cold Springs. Good luck!
