Erie Canal Information

Does anybody know if there are sections of the Erie Canal trail open as of yet between Utica and Little Falls? If not open yet any idea when sections are scheduled to open?

I was through there about two months ago. they have been working on a section from Mohawk down to almost Lock 18. Unless they make a lot of progress this summer I don't see them having it completed till late this year. If you ride through there old 5S between Frankfort and Utica is a nice ride with very little traffic. Illion and Mohawk has traffic during rush hours and Saturday mornings but isn't bad other times. Route 5S from Fort Herkimer down to 167 and then to Little Falls isn't bad either it has about a 2' shoulder
