Pannier size guestion
After many years I thought that My Nashbar rear bags needed up grading. I bought a set of bags that were advertised as holding 3500 ci. the old bags were said to be 2300 ci. Looking things over I found that the material was heavier on the old bags and that they hold nearly the same volume. I wonder if anyone else has had problems with advertised size. I supose that the thinner material may be stronger, but ci. should be more the standerd size demention.

I think they all exaggerate. Or measure differently somehow. You would think that "rated capacity" would be difficult to interpret in any way other that "what fits inside the bag" but I have seen considerable variation. Go by the measurements and do the math yourself to arrive at a rough capacity figure.

Also, it may also be the geometry or fit of what you're putting inside. I mean, we're not storing liquid or gas inside in the pannier.

see response #9 of this thread:
http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...+beer+capacity that should be the standard from now on, over ci or height x length x width. |
