Is the ATA trail finished to Cumberland MD now?

This was on the ATA trail website
"December 14, 2006 1:00 pm

Ribbon Cutting at Mile Post Zero of the Great Allegheny Passage
Canal Place Cumberland Maryland

Reception to follow at Western Maryland Train Station "

Complete article at : https://www.atatrail.org/ribboncutting.cfm

Does this mean that the final section from Woodcock Hollow to Cumberland is now complete?

YES (I think.) Caveat: the section from Pittsburgh to McKeesport is definitely NOT complete. There's a major move to have the trails in the Burgh complete before the city's major anniversary in 2008.

McKeesport to Frostburg and on to Woodcock Hollow has been completed.

This December ribbon-cutting will (I believe) celebrate the opening of the trail from Woodcock Hollow to Cumberland. The folks at ata-trail.org, or at https://groups.yahoo.com/group/Great_Allegheny_Passage/ may provide better insights.

EDIT: Check out this post: https://groups.yahoo.com/group/Great_...e/message/2207
from a rider who's recently been out there.

There's also a 500-person bike ride going DC-McKeesport in late June, that should be a major media event. Details at: https://www.nbtda.com/EventInfoPage.asp?id=413

And, if I may, here's a GPS data dump of our 4-day trip this summer:

There's a trip report available here: https://www.thirdwave-websites.com/bi...dc-c&o-gap.cfm

Thanks Ed for the reply, The Greenway Sojourn looks fun but that week unfortunately doesn't work for me.
I 'm planning on the second week of July, I'm riding from Mount Vernon to Weirton WV and then back to Coraopolis and Pitt. A little more than 400 miles according to Gmap .
But for 2 years in a row something major has happened to change my plans, so they might well have the stretch between McKeesport and Pittsburgh done by the time I get there.
