Saddle Question
 

This might be a stupid question, but I'm thinking about getting a saddle soon to start the break in period. I cycle around 50km/week so it shouldn't take long, but I want it ready for my tours. If I break it in on my POS mountain bike that I ride on the snow covered streets will it be just the same as breaking it in on the touring bike i'm getting? Like would the ergonomics (sp) be different when i'm breaking it in, so that when I switched it onto the other bike, the seat would sit funny. Also is it bad to leave it exposed to the elements for about an hour and a half a day that I leave it outside at the gym? I'll most likely get a Brooks.

You don't mention which Brooks saddle or bike you intend to buy so I'll tell you what works for me.

If you are buying a Brooks, it will re-form if it needs to. There are limits, though. If you try taking a B67 from a citi-fied MTB and put it on a dedicated roadie, you might not be satisfied due to the width at the flair. In such a case, one might buy a Pro instead. Both my tour bike and street-morphed MTB have interchangeable 'comfort zones' with either a B67 or B17.

I wouldn't recommend leaving a Brooks out in the rain on a regular basis. Some do, but not me, even tho I SnoSeal my saddles. I just don't push it. It's too easy to slip a plastic bag over it. Don't be afraid to be a dork: Use fenders that work.
