When will you plan the tour? The DALMAC folks have several nice routes from Lansing to Mackinaw, hence the name. They have just started to anounce their routes. Check their website. Much of Lower Mich. is reasonably flat with grids of paved county and state roads. George in Grand Rapids, Mich

I have maps of DALMAC which run up the center of the state and lmb.org maps which follow your route, only starting at Spring Lake to Mackinaw. I also have maps from PALM (Pedal accross Lower Michigan). You can either buy maps at lmb.org or private message me with your address and I'll send you a copy. Sometimes it can be hard to get a camping spot at a state park or motels during the summer weekends, although there are private campgrounds. Some of the roads can be busy without shoulders, so I would recommend using maps that have already been developed. Michigan drivers are some of the worst in the nation. It is the Motor City state and by God, it is the cars that should be on the road. If you read Crazyguyonabike, you can see many people have trouble with Michigan drivers. I have cycled in many states and have found Michigan to have the most impatient and rude drivers. The coastline of Lake Michigan is beautiful and there are tons of little towns to buy refreshments.
