Anyone else subscribe to the list, or did? I used to, and it has some great contributors. I put it on hold for a while. Sort of forgot about it, and now whenever I check the archives, I see it's got quite a bit of spam. Too bad as it's a great resource. I'm hoping those folks migrate here some day if the list succumbs to spam or otherwise clogged email boxes as I their is a lot of knowledge and experience there. Anyhow, does anyone know if Alex is working on blocking the spam? I remember several years ago when he swithched to only accepting emails from subscribers, but that apparently only worked for so long.

I used to be a member for several years, but it got to the point where enough of the posts were non-touring related so I just dropped it. SPAM wasn't problem when I was last a member last year.

I used to be on the touring mailing list (and other online mailing lists), but my main reason for leaving them is that most of the posts were by people who were obsessive about bicycling. Here at bikeforums, there are still people who are obsessive about bicycling, or at least some aspect of it, but there are also a lot of people for whom it's just another aspect of their lives.
That said, I do still go back to the bikelist.org archives sometimes when I want more, already written opinions than just bikeforums; or, if it takes a more complicated search expression.

I was a longtime touring@phred subscriber but the constant bickering between a few subscribers the last 3 years or so just got to the point where it wasn't worth the clutter in the mailbox. Much more civil here.
