"My First" Brooks!

Y'all gotta dig this:

https://www.khsbicycles.com/06_urban_x_07.htm

Dig the saddle on this ride; I just bought an Urban-x yesterday (pretty decent deal btw, if your local shop stocks them), and the saddle is a "KHS Classic w/ Rivets". It's more or less a Brooks "Conquest", but with a grey plastic (sorry, vinyl) covering instead of leather. The rivets seem to be purely aesthetic, but that's ok.

I love this saddle! I own and have toured with the B17 (and it's true that nothing beats Brooks), but I gotta say, for daily commuting with a cheap-ish seat, this saddle seems to straddle the division perfectly. Perhaps if there's someone out there you know who WOULD love a Brooks but isn't confident enough to buy one you could get them riding this...from there it's only a small step up to the real thing.

Leather... that's the "key" component of the Brooks saddles. Once the leather has "broken in" it is fitted perfectly to your kiester. Once a vinyl saddle is "broken in"... it's just "broken."

Agreed. But, for commuting, and other types of utility (shorter) riding, synthetics are fine for most people. I just like Brooks because once they're formed up, they work for every type of riding.

Nice bike, BTW.

I've been out twice on my Brooks B-17 for a total of 58 miles and after the second ride it already started feeling better, after I tilted the nose back down to level. I didn't slide around very much and I really think its going to be ok. Can't wait to get on it tomorrow afternoon
