Very sad and cruel ending to an amazing story...

https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20...00105-mai-soci

...yeah its in Japanese so let me translate:

Today June 25 at 1:50 PM,

Mr. Kamesaburo Harano, 80 years old of Nagano Prefecture died when struck from behind by a dump truck driven by a 22 year old.

Mr. Harano had just completed his cycling tour around the whole country and was making his way home when killed 20 kilometers from home (12.5 miles).

The accident occured in a well lit tunnel with good visibility.

His friends quote Mr. Harano: "青春がなかった戦友のために回っている"
Loosely translated "I am touring for my brothers whom did not experience youth due to war"
...have a ride and a toast for Kamesaburo.

That is all.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

さびしい。

Have to be somewhat glad the old boy did his trip, though.
