Headset for Surly LHT build

Guys - can I use this as my headset for the LHT build? Looks like a great deal. Says there are no spacers. Not sure if that makes a difference as the LHT complete build says the headset they use has 15mm spacers. Thanks in advance.

Jeff

I don't think your link is working properly. Anyway, any 1 1/8" threadless headset will work in the LHT. Spacers generally do not come with headsets. You decide how many spacers you will need and cut the steerer tube accordingly.

That headset will be fine. You'll want to also buy some headset spacers in the same 11/8" size unless you're setting up your LHT for racing.

Once you get the bike built up, take it for some rides before cutting the steerer tube. The last thing you want to do is cut off too much at first.

I'm using the S-8 (which is nearly the same) on mine.

I use the S-1 on my LHT. Works fine. I also left my steering tube a bit long and put a couple spacers up on top. That way, if I ever sell it, there is room for the new owner to adjust it not only down, but up too. But it will be a cold day in hell before I sell it, it took me flawlessly coast to coast a few months back and we share too many fond memories.
