Blackburn Lowrider rack, or similar???

My new touring bike is arriving within a few days and I'm having trouble locating a front rack. I've always liked my Blackburn Lowrider front rack on my older touring bike but, I just discovered today that they no longer make it. Fortunately, I was able to buy the Blackburn EX-1 Expedition rack today.

Can anyone suggest a comparable lowrider rack? I like the Blackburn design and the narrow tubing (unlike some of the newer front racks with different designs and wider tubing). The 'MEC Lowrider Front Cycling Rack' looks identical and the price is a bargain at $17.50. But, I want higher quality and don't mind paying more to get it.

Check Nashbar, they have a rack identical to the Blackburn. Last week it was on sale for $13 or something, though i don't know about now. Check their returned items, too, it would be even cheaper if they have a re-stocked one.

It's not tubing, it is aluminum rod. As a result, when made in China it can be dead cheap. The MEC one should be "OK" since their stuff is widely purchased and used. I would go for one of the fatter 4130 racks and they tend to be more expensive. I would point out that the sponsored pro cyclists on the MEC site actually warn against using Al alloy racks!

I see Lowriders on Ebay all the time. That Nashbar version looks identical - I was wondering if they bought the patent. For my new bike I bought a Tubus Tara. I haven't carried a load with it yet but it seems really strong. It's a little more pricey though.
