Saddle suggestion

I bike between 30-60 miles on my longer weekend rides, and want to get rid of the Bontrager stock saddle that came with my Trek 1000. I want something firmer and lighter, without spending too much money. I think I've narrowed it down to the Neuvation S1, the Selle Italia SLK, and the Selle San Marcos Aspide. Any suggestions from experience? I'm a little guy, about 5'9" 145lb. Thanks a lot.

You better ride them. I hated the Aspide, SLR (package fell asleep in 5 minutes!) and SLK. Saddle choice is very individual and very unforgiving. I now ride a Fizik Aliante and a Fizik Arione. Good luck.

Well, until this summer, I never imagined that I would be joining the cloying, saccarhine-sweet caroling of the BAC (Brooks Apostolic Choir), but hallelujah, I had a conversion experience on the road to Rivière-du-Loup. For the first time ever on an extended tour, my tushy had nothing to complain about!

Forget lightweight, forget saving money. Try a Brooks saddle.

I always used gel/padded saddles... This year, I bought a Brooks B17 leather saddle... I could feel it breaking in and becoming rather comfortable after about 100-150 miles (at the time, I was 245 lbs, so maybe I broke it in quickly)

I just finished a 250 mile ride in canada, and would have had about 500 miles on the saddle... I never had one issue with my butt hurting. My legs gave out before my rear did, and that's saying a lot, because on the padded seats, I could go 5-10 miles before I had to dismount and shake the feeling back into my toes and reapply my Udderly Smooth.

I didn't even need my udder cream with the Brooks saddle. I will never use another seat.

PS: After 7 weeks, I weigh 216 lbs ^_^

Brooks B17. I just got one and can't believe the difference in one ride.
