Want to ride across the US, need info

I want to plan a ride across the US for June and July and am looking for information, tips, route etc. Are there books on the subject, or websites? Any suggestions on where I should start my research?

Thanks,

Josh

Yes try adventure cycling at:

and Crazy Guy on a Bike at:

You can even start by reading about my trip if you want :) at:

And FYI, a typical Trans Am is about 10 weeks.

What about this website? Have a look around!

There are many journals on Crazyguyonabike.com. The information is mind boggling.

Adventure Cycling's maps are highly recommended. In addition to the route, they give you the locations of motels, campgrounds, places to eat, and bike shops. I myself rode their Southern Tier Route, the shortest crossing. However it might be a bit too warm to do the route in June & July.

Thank you for all the great leads. I am very early in the planning stages but am really looking forward to this.

Thanks,

Josh
