From what I can tell, Aer Lingus doesn't charge for bikes on international flights. They go to more than just Ireland, too. As long as your bike doesn't weigh more than 50 kilos or something like that you should be fine. Unless there's some fine print somewhere that I couldn't find, in which case I'll let you know in December :D

flew delta from NY to Dublin. 2 slightly oversized boxes. One for wheels (3 inches over) and other for everything else (8 inches over). got to counter VERY early and strategy was to try and if got stuck, would wait till personnel change to try again. they let everything on, no questions, no charges, nothing. my luck i guess. yes, the bike packs in a box with 70inches total. wheels, can make 62 inches, but i was real sloppy.

we flew with delta twice with our bicycles and paid 80 usd per bicycle each time. the info on their web site is confusing and irrelevant. it is 80 per bike.

These policies will be changing soon. I have it on good authority that cycling is the new golf.

For information about taking bikes on airlines and through airports and train stations, see this link at www.biketouringtips.com. A tremendous resource!
