Q for Ortlieb users
Without too much criticism about why I shouldn't bring a laptop on tour, I have a capacity Question for users of bike packers plus. Will a 14x11x2" laptop case fit within the bag and how much space will be left? Prob. just clothing will go in that pannier. I have looked at the dimensions, but they are a bit insufficient what with the diff. in upper and lower width.

We carried our full sized IBM laptop in our Bike Packer Classic (the larger back ones) within a traditionally sized targus laptop case. I believe the Classic and Plus version are the same size. I would stuff one cube (see below) of clothing on the outside to provide protection. No rain got to the computer, nor was it damaged.

I kept a 12" Powerbook in a front roller classic and it fit fine. The laptop was in its padded case. Adding a layer of padding on the outside like Losligato does is the way to go.

Padded sleeve should be fine: https://www.sfbags.com/products/sleev...leevecases.htm
My main concern is that you'd have to charge it all the time. Not a problem if you're credit-card touring, may be an issue if you're camping.
If all you want to do is take notes, and don't need Internet connectivity on the road, I'd recommend the Alphasmart Neo. Cheap, light, super-battery efficient.

I've been able to fit my entire spire volt xl laptop backpack with my 17" dell inspiron laptop inside my ortlieb rear roller classic pannier. I just had to remove the backpack's internal plastic frame and padding and after little bit of struggle the thing even waterproof closed!
