Bikes: "Hildy", a Novara Randonee touring bike; a 16-speed Bike Friday Tikit; and a Specialized Stumpjumper frame-based built-up MTB, now serving as the kid-carrier, grocery-getter.

Somerset, Hunterdon NJ route

(Apologies for cross-posting, I'm not getting any response in the regional forums.)

I'll be riding next week in Hunterdon and Somerset couties in NJ:

https://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path...-Bernardsville

The route comments I get from BF are very useful, so I'm looking to get some feedback on these roads, from Lawrenceville to Bernardsville. The route isn't set in stone (it'll depend on where I find a place to stay for the night), it's pretty close.

Thanks! I appreciate any bits of imformation people might have, even if it's just a road here or there.

I'm sure you're aware of: https://www.njbikemap.com/

Not the most user-friendly format, but I've found it to be quite informative and accurate. I live just North your route, but I'm not familiar with roads south of I-78.

By the way, your link doesn't seem to work. And searching your username on bikely.com, I can't find the route you're referencing.

EDIT: Oh, someone else mentioned njbikemap.com in your other thread! Still, it gives a pretty good idea about elevations and safety.

The streets in bold sound familiar, and I think I was on them. Really, no problems with any of these, although 27 does get dicey a few towns north of Princeton when the shoulder disappears.

If you go to the LBS in NJ there are some books with bike routes. I would suggest picking up one or two. They might actually be in the book stores too, I don't remember.

I remember using them when I lived in NJ. Lots of good routes in that area.

I ended up changing he destinations a bit, and this is the route I took for that day:

https://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Nov-tour-day-4

0-8 miles: No problems, by my god, it was hilly. I walked mu bike up several hills for the first time in the tour.

Mercer Road from Princeton to Lawrenceville: Lots of lousy, pothole-ridden stretches, and the bike lanes come and go. For the brave, but better than riding route 1 by far. Next time down there, I'll see how 206 is instead.
