Non Profit Touring Groups

Are there any non profit touring groups? I know about Wandering Wheels, they are a bit Christian oriented and also considering retirement. I would like a nice tour with camping and low budget meals. It seems like all the touring companies go for ultra nice motels and meals and are around $200 a day if not more. Can we start a list of budget touring groups?

This link points to a brief description of the Bicycle Adventure Club which pretty much fits your description of a non-profit touring club.

Here is a page from www.biketouringtips.com that lists 9 links to bike touring company information (including the one above).

Ok here is the confusion- Adventure Cycling Association has a site that is easy to use is this the group you refer to at
http://www.adventurecycling.org/index.cfm
or Adventure Bicycle Club at
http://www.bicycleadventureclub.org/html/index.asp
which won't let me in at all unless I pay first?

Many of the bigger cities have cycletouring clubs. I know Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver do. And in England there's the CTC. These clubs put on relatively inexpensive tours every year ... some are weekend tours, others are 1-2 week tours. Some have camping, some stay in other accommodations. Have a look to see what your local club, or the club(s) in your destination city have to offer.

I checked out the Adventure Cycling Club (http://www.bicycleadventureclub.org/html/index.asp) and see that there is something wrong with their site. All of the links on their home page have the same problem. Even trying to login in causes the same error. My guess is a programming or hosting error.

I am not a member. When I looked at them before, I could see the list of their rides but was limited as to the information I could get. Check them out in a day or two.

I sent them an email about the problem.
