C&O - W&OD Loop

I'm looking to plot a safe tour route that will take me from the Northern end of the C&O Canal Trail (Cumberland, MD) to the Western end of the W&OD Trail (Purcelville, VA). A small group of us would like to ride a loop from DC.

Thanks for your suggestions.

This route will get you from the Whites Ferry area of the C&O down to Georgetown and across to the W&OD. https://www.bikewashington.org/routes/wodco/wodco.htm

I see that I misunderstood the route. I thought you were coming in to DC and wanted to get back out to Purcelville. I can see from re-reading your post and looking at Boh's map that you want to go directly to Purcelville from the end of the C&O and then, I assume come back to DC on W&OD. Sounds like a great trip - remember to post about how it goes.

Guys, thanks for the guides. fueled, I think yours is more what I am looking for. I won't do this ride until memorial day weekend, but I'll probably do the road portion before then. I am leading a small group on the Memorial Day trip, so I want to make sure I know the way. I'll post a trip report when I am done.

Thanks!

XRoader.
