Anyone have an REI 20% coupon you're not using?

I posted this in the general cycling forum, but thought I would cross-post it here...

It looks like we will buying two REI bikes for our upcoming journey from Alaska to Argentina. I've got my 20% off coupon that I will use for one of the bikes, but I'm wondering if anybody has a coupon they are not planning to use that they would give to us for the other bike. We would really appreciate it if you don't mind!

You are probably going to need a second membership number not an extra coupon.

You are right - we would need to use someone's member number. REI doesn't care who uses the number, so if someone isn't going to use theirs,we could put in their member number and use their discount. It's just that each member number is allowed one item at 20% off. We've done that before - my sister has sent me her number some years and we use it, and other years we send her my number and she uses it. Some years neither of us use them.

I could do it. Do you just need my membership number or would you have to give me some money and then have me order the item shipped to you?

If you strike out, you could buy another membership in a family member's name, it's good forever, and I think it's $20. Then you get to use it next year too.

Get an REI Visa card and pay full price for the bike with it. You'll get a 10% dividend and 5% store credit applied to your card at the end of the year, plus whatever incentives REI is offering this week to apply for the Visa card. Not quite 20% but close enough and you won't have to worry about meeting the March 30 deadline.

Edit: my dividend and my 20% coupon and my store credit on the Visa were spent before they reached my mailbox (or my inbox), so I'm afraid I can't help you there.

Big sign on the door of the REI in Santa Ana, Ca Today

All Novara Bikes 20% Off. Can't add a 20% coupon as it is for "full priced item". Panniers maybe or ????

I bought the REI Novara Randonee touring bike yesterday. 20% + 5% with REI credit card - actually comes to 24% off, plus they removed the saddle and handlebar and pedals for me and deducted $78 for that. The guy next to me was looking to buy the REI Trionfo or Team Trionfo road bike.

Those Trionfos and Team Trionfos that the other guy was looking for are some high class road bikes. REI seems to keep them pretty much under wraps. They had none in the store, and I can't even find the Trionfo on line now, and the Team Trionfo may have been discontinued. They were both on the computer at the REI store, but I can't find the Trionfo on their website.

Ideally we would get two Randonee's, but there is no way we can get our son on the Randonee - they don't make it small enough. As it is, it will be a push to get him on the smallest Safari. It's a bummer, because it means we wil have to carry THREE different tires and tubes - 700c for me and the tandem, 26" for the Safari, and the itty-bitty ones for the BOB.

yes, you can use the 20% coupon multiple times (already used 4 times) when you order online as described.

Maybe swap the bob for an extrawheel trailer, they take 26 or 700c.

We are seriously looking at the extrawheel. BOB should be making a decision in the next few weeks if they will sponsor us. If not, we'll probably go with the extrawheel. We do really like the BOB, but it's a hassle to ship - and we'll have to ship them up to Alaska and then again from Panama to Colombia. The extrawheel would be a lot easier to ship.
