TransAm, weight of bicycle and maps??

TransAm, weight of bicycle and maps??
Hi All,
Plane ticket is booked - Sydney to Vancouver 16/06/08.....leave is approved for three and a half months..
Here comes the Trans Am!!! I can't wait, it's going to be a trip of a lifetime.
I'm flying with Qantas who will accept a total of 60kgs checked in, seven carry on. I have a 60cm Surly LHT.... will this come under 30kgs? I'm definitely not going to be carrying 30kgs on the bicycle for the trip..
Does anyone have Trans Am maps they would be willing to sell??
Is it normal for me to feel excited but full of trepidation??

Get a scale and start weighing stuff. 
My bathroom scale isn't the greatest but it does give me an approximate idea of how much my stuff weighs. I weigh myself, then pick up my bicycle and weigh it ... then do the same with my loaded panniers, etc. Oh, and don't forget to include the weight of the bicycle box. The thing is, with some airlines, if you go over the weight limit you could be charged quite a bit extra, so it is in your best interest to have a pretty good idea where you stand with the weight of your stuff.
Yeah, some trepidation is normal.

Be sure that the weight is not over 32k as that is the maximum for any checked in luggage( except mobility aids) on board Quantas
and a Surly should be way under 30 kg
I stuff loads of stuff in my bike box, last time it was 31.5 km, nearly over the limit.
I take the cardboard box from a LBS last one was from Bondi Road, and some duct tape to the airport.
Ask the guys on the oversized checkin to weigh the box, and if its under weight then seal it.
