Help!

We' re on tour in eastern virginia, kilmarnock va right now. I broke a rear spoke and don't have any. Yea dumb, I though my partner had some and he I. Its a 26" rim. Going to keep riding but we're fully loaded and lots of weight on the rim. Tomorrow is memorial day and I bet nothing is open. 300 miles from home and feeling kinda screwed. We're headed in the general direction of richmond but not sure if we'll make it. If you can help plz email me at payneb5@yahoo.com or call and lv message - 610 564 6074. Name is brian btw. More info on my tour in another post. Ill update this post when/if imnot longer screwed and don't need help. posting this via blackberry but not a lot of battery left.

One thing I just thought of... If someone has a warm showers account, could you get the names of anyone who is close to kinarmock va(town posted above) or richmond. Of you could email or pm me that info that would be a huge help. I can't get on the site on my phone. Tia

Nowhere near you, but if you can find another tourist with longer spokes that they can spare, you can use the 'z-bend' trick, cut off the head so the remaining spoke is a bit longer than your original, and then put the bend in to create another head to get a resulting spoke of the right length. You can see pictures on this thread about 3/4 of the way down the page:

I've done that before and its worked perfectly for me, drive and non drive sides in the rear, and I didn't need to remove the cassette to get one in on the drive side.

Enjoy the tour, and hope this helps.
