Any Jackson/Natchez/Vicksburg experts?

Looking for advice on getting from Jackson to Vicksburg via bike- is 80 ridable (by a slightly traffic skittish wife? Flat/Rollers/Hills? Alternatives?

We're going down for a few days next week, and want to ride the Battlefield area loop- if I can ride from Jackson to there, so much the better.

Appreciate any and all advice.

I did the whole Nanchez Trace a few years ago, beautiful, quiet, campgrounds, even a few just for bicyclists. Goes through Jackson and covers route you want.

I used to live in Jackson - -
Jackson, Wyoming that is.

But there are a number of great back roads from Jackson, Mississippi.
Here are some county road maps:

Champion Hill Rd and Warriors Trail thru Edwards and Bovina appear to be more backroadish than US 80.
You'll be following almost the exact route Grant used to advance upon Vicksburg.
