Arkel Bar Bag Modification
Hi All,
I wanted to show off my remake of the Arkel bar bag hanger. I always thought that my Arkel bag mounted too high & too far from the handlebar, but nothing to worry about. I decided that I wanted to try aero bars this year, or as another member called them "prairie bars", but I didn't want to give up my handlebar bag. So I chopped & spliced the original hanger. I hope that you can make it out from the pictures. I also threw in a picture of my bike at the end so you can see my new red powder coat job. http://users.techline.com/tomn/arkelbag4.jpg The original hanger. http://users.techline.com/tomn/arkelbag2.jpg The altered hanger. http://users.techline.com/tomn/arkelbag3.jpg http://users.techline.com/tomn/arkelbag5.jpg The bag now hangs just below the handlebar. http://users.techline.com/tomn/arkelbag.jpg My new red powdercoat finish. Thanks for looking, Tom |
Very interesting - An alternative to the second stem!
Thanks for sharing! |
I have been looking for something like this for ages to mount a bag with my aerobars. Anyone know of any "off the shelf" solutions?
Great work. Love the bike. Dave. |
thats a great idea tom. i have the arkel small bar bag as well, and have considered getting aerobars with a second stem, but your modification seems like a better alternative. you should tell arkel about it.

Yeah, that`s nice. I`m not familiar with Arkel enough to know how they normally mount, but it looks great where it ended up. I can imagine that 5" or so higher would have been kind of silly even without prairie rests. My old lunchbox (C-dale bar bag) sits up high like that and I never could understand why- at least it doesn`t get in my way.
