Wyoming to NE Iowa via Duluth?

OK--the first leg of my tour is over. San Jose, CA to Burgess Junction, WY (west of Sheridan...where 14 and 14A meet back up). I'm here for a few days with family and need to determine my route for the next leg. Here're some of my ideas:

- I'm thinking about going through Spearfish, SD to see a friend (not a must)
- I'd like to go across (northern) North Dakota
- I'd like to go across Minnesota all the way to Duluth
- After Duluth, I will end up in Decorah, Iowa (my hometown--this is a must).

Certainly not the most direct route, I know, but that's the idea.

If I get to Spearfish, US 85 north looks like an appealing route. Does anybody have any experience with it? I'm really just guessing there.

Any other suggestions from those with experience in those areas?

Thanks as always for all the help this group is able to provide. I'm probably setting out (toward Sheridan) Tuesday noonish. The tour's been just fantastic so far. https://82times.com
