I think if I drove out to a decent campground (emphasis on quiet - definitely no freight trains) and did a series of out and back trips - that might be a workable plan. Then I could bulk up on the comfort factors without worrying about weight. It would have to be the right location, with some good biking destinations dotted around the wheel surround the hub as it were. I do believe Neil B. was talking about such an idea a bit ago.

Yep, that's the issue. I've just not had good luck with campgrounds and I'm a notoriously fickle getter-to-sleeper. I admire the CGOAB folks who can camp and drop off to sleep in 5 minutes.
