San Francisco day trips

I'm looking to start bike/camping and i was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations for places to go within a day or two ride of SF. Campsite names and routes would be really helpful.

You can bike or take a bus over the Golden Gate Bridge into Marin County. You can then bike over the shoulder of Mt. Tamalpias or take the Marin Stagecoach out to Stinson Beach or Dillon. You are in the Pt. Reyes Nat'l Seashore now and have plenty of biking and camping. Even bike/camp on up the coast past Bodega Bay to Jenner and take the summer-only SCTA bus 29 back to Santa Rosa then GGTD bus 80 back into San Francisco. I just sagged for a group of relatives and friends who did a 4 day hike from Olema south to the bridge.

Um, just saw you said Day trips. Lots of those in Marin County.

Head south to Santa Cruz or down to Monterey. Also check out big basin in the Santa Cruz mountains. I don't remember the camp site names, but just poke around online and you'll find some good ones.

Ride out past Fairfax (Marin country) and spend the night in Samuel P. Taylor State park. It is about 35 miles from SF and has a hiker/biker site. It is in the middle of the redwoods and has showers. A mostly flat ride and nice place to camp.

In another day, you can be in Bodega Bay, where there is another campground with a hiker/biker site.

Put them all together and you have a nice 4 day out and back!

I recommend the ride down the coastline. There are hiker/biker campsites (no reservations required for cyclist) at Half Moon Bay State Beach in Half Moon Bay and New Brighton State Beach in Capitola, and Sunset State Beach near Watsonville. I have camped at New Brighton State Beach a couple of times and I have found it to be quite nice.

I also strongly suggest that you get the Krebs Bicycle Touring Maps of the South San Francisco Bay Area and the North San Francisco Bay Area, https://www.krebscycleproducts.com/

Tiburon / Paradise Loop is a popular day trip ride route.

It's a half century if you start and end in downtown SF.
