Max Bicycle Box Dimension?

Trying to ship some bikes. Box is 55x8x31. Looks like this is about as big as they get! Sending Seattle to Pittsburgh and need to get to Fedex. Best place to get boxes in Seattle?

Try your local bike shop. Back east we could just go out back and take them out of the shops recycle bin.

-Boxes do come in different sizes. I like to double them up-put one box inside another bigger box. Don't forget to put something between the fork ends and the hangers. A shop should have a bunch of the pre-formed plastic stay protectors lying around.

FedEx is about your cheapest way to ship that I could find. Any chance you can get the bike into a slightly smaller box. A few inches matter a great deal. A 52x30x8 40 lb. box cost $65 to ship from Pittsburgh to San Francisco but a 52x33x8 costs $114.

Check your PMs. I live 2 miles from the Montour Trail and 10 miles from the airport. Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

US post office parcel post would be about $45 shipped coast-to-coast.

Right, I'm going to use a 53x8x30 (91 linear inches) box. Don't even want to go one inch more. I think UPS rates go up at about the same place, but cost a bit more at all levels.

To ship a tricycle maybe. Or a bike broken down into several pieces. More like $120 for a regular bike box.

Gee, I used a box from the UPS store, and it was cheaper to ship than a box from a bike store.

I just shipped a 53x8x30 box from DC to Seattle, valued at $1000, for $64.

I have never seen any mention of anyone shipping a bike by USPS Parcel Post. I didn't think they even handled packages that size. Has anyone actually shipped a bike this way? If so I would be curious to hear more.
