Worst touring/commuting tire ever?
Here is a link to the thread I posted in the commuting forum.
I probably should have posted it here. Oops. http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=456757 |
I also have a sherpa 30 with the same tires. So far no flats with 1300 miles on them however
I have noticed that, like your picture, my tires collect small rocks in the groves. The rocks are too numerous to continually remove them. I have been concerned about flats but do not want to replace the tires until it becomes a problem. |
I was laughing out loud regarding the poster who suggested you dodge those rocks rather than hitting them head on. Funny stuff!
Thanks for sharing the issues you have had with that tire though-one to avoid. |
I'm unhappy with:
Cheng Shin 23mm - harsh, lots of flats after ~1000km. (Replaced with 25mm Detonator Re-fuse - comfy, flat-proof, corner really well, pretty fast; but cost 3x as much) and Michelin transworld city - not bad initially but not great cornering. After a few thousand Km they pick up rocks/glass and keep getting punctures (inc. the only big split I've had in a tyre). (Replaced with Schwalbe Delta Cruiser 35mm at the back; comfy, no flats, decent grip but slow; Vittoria Randonneur 28mm at the front - fast, tough, but not very comfy). |
