My Summer Tour

Here are two pictures from my summer tour. I went from Lincoln Nebraska to the Black Hills, SD to visit my girlfriend. These are pictures from Nebraska, they are both just of my bicycle (named Colonel Mustard) in landscape images. As I am sure most of you know, pictures don't do justice to what one sees on a tour.

I had a great time. It was my first "real" tour, and I went alone. It took me six days, 550miles. I ended up being really poor when I got there, as I caved and stayed three nights in motels, so I got a job at subway for ten days.

When I got there, my girlfriend and I went to Sturgis (120miles roundtrip). Van Ocker canyon is amazing, if you guys are ever up there. There is a natural spring that has yummy water you can drink, on the side of the road. The Mickelson trail was also amazing, it's a ~100 mile gravel MUP through the black hills.

Very nice. It sounds like you had a good time, aside from the stint at Subway.

I went to Nebraska once, it was closed. South Dakota must have been a nice change. Did you have any difficulties with your MTB? That's what I would like to tour on.

It was closed? Nebraska landscape is pretty cool in the sandhills, and the northern panhandle. South Dakota landscape actually is really boring unless you are in the black hills.
It's not really a mtb, its a hybrid- trek fx7.2. (minus the crappy pedals the fx line comes with)

The only problem I had was I think I got carpel tunnel syndrome on day 5, it was either because of the handle bars or because I kept doing that hand-wave thing when people passed.
Mechanically, I had absolutely no problems.
