Specialized Expedition Quandry

I picked a mid 80's Specialized Expedition on Ebay this weekend, and am now finding myself in a great debate. It's been repainted yellow (very ugly) and was left to die a slow death in a backyard. To get it up and running, it needs at a minimum, tires, tubes, new cables, and I should probably rebuild the hubs, headset, and bottom bracket. It'll take a Saturday to get it up and running and looking decent again.
Here is the dilemma; I had one in the 80's and loved it, especially the metallic gray color. So the question is do I repair it in the next few weeks and ride it, or do I send it off to Cyclart or someone similar and have the frame painted, with decals, so it looks new, and then rebuild it with updated parts into a sweet new/old bike? I'm really torn and could use some help with the decision. Nice part is that the bike only cost me about $120 bucks. Thanks for your input ahead of time.

Powder coating is pretty reasonable = looks nice and I'd put a little more modern touring components and a B-17. Put your $$ in the parts. If I anticipated going cross country that's that's what I do. Now if it's retro memories you want that a whole nother thing entirely.
