Garmin Legend/Vista CX vs HCX for touring

I'm looking into GPS units for my upcoming tour, and I was wondering, for touring, if going with a Cx model as opposed to HCx would be okay. The older Cx units are 70-80 bucks cheaper for a refurbished unit. From what I understand, the sole difference between the two is the high sensitivity chip, which means faster lock-ons and they can hold onto the signal better.

I'm doing a cross-continent tour on roads, so I can't imagine I'll be out in the woods much at all, and I'm mostly just using it for POI purposes (nearest campground, etc...). Anyone ever used a Vita or Legend Cx model, and have thoughts?

I use the Cx and it is fine. On a bike on roads reception is fine. My garmin edge locks on faster but they are the same after that.

HCX has the better reciever. the Cx model has to have a much clearer line of sight and prefers to be held flat since it's a simple patch antenna The Cx doesn't work well under tree cover or around tall buildings. If something like using it Geocaching may be in your future you'll be happier with the Hcx. If ya don't know what geocaching is, try http://www.geocaching.com (it's a blast)

I use a 60Csx personally.
