Adventure Cyclist & a scanner??

Apparently I have an article in the current Adventure Cyclist magazine, but I can't see it since we are down in Mexico touring. Does anybody have the magazine and a scanner and would be able to send me a copy of the article? I'm really curious about how it turned out!

If you can do it, please send it to me familyonbikes (at) gmail.com

Thanks!
Nancy

It turned out really well, but I don't have a scanner. Good job!

Nancy,
I read it last night (if it's the same one I'm thinking of). It's about your experiences through the Dalton Highway? What a great read! Pretty impressive feat. I'll dig up my scanner and email it to you this weekend, unless you've already got it. You could also email ACA and have them send you a PDF of it.

Best,
Russ

Thanks Russ! Yes - it's the arrticle about cycling the Dalton. I never know how much they edit out when they publish articles, so I'm curious to see it.

I just checked the ACA web site to see if your article was online. It was not, but in my search I found a similar article from 1999. That article used exactly the same picture of the Arctic Circle sign that was used in your article (except with different people in front of the sign).

I found that same article when I searched their site, John - and I found that same photo!

Thanks Dell! I got it and am downloading it right now. My internet connection is pretty slow so it's taking a while....

Greetings, Nancy. I was pleased to open my magazine and see the article about your family. I've been monitoring your progress for awhile. You all are among my heroes, and I can't wait to see what your kids are going to grow up to be. I think an experience like this can't help but be a life-changer.

When I was 6 my family drove across the country and back in a VW bus (in 1956!), camping most of the way, and spent 6 months just across the river from Washington, D.C. before heading back to Seattle. We spent most weekends sightseeing in Washington. I saw the country on that trip, mile by mile, and spent hundreds of hours learning about our history while in the capital. That trip had a profound impact on my whole life.

Your kids are seeing much more, and doing it on bicycles, which we all know is the best way to see every detail of every mile (except maybe for walking.) They are indeed lucky to have parents willing to undertake an adventure of this magnitude with them.

Best of luck, may the wind be mostly at your back, and may the rain mostly be in another county.

Dear Nancy

I don't suppose it's possible to get a copy of the article? I'm planning on cycling the Dalton this summer and would love to read what you wrote. I can't get adventure cyclist where I live without spending a small fortune.

Thanks :-)

Nancy,

I just got the magazine a couple of days ago - great photos, great article.

Have been following your blog as well; it was great to see you guys took the time to visit Mexico City.

Continued safe travels --

Thanks everyone! I was a bit disappointed in the formatting of the article - the journal entries were supposed to be written in italics or indented or something to set them apart from the rest of the article, but that didn't happen. I found it a bit confusing to read it - I went from an overview of the trip to detailed journal entries without any kind of visual clue that it was happening. Oh well - I guess that happens!

If dell doesn't mind, I could forward it on to those of you who want it - send me an email.

Thanks for the kind words Gordon! I also think our kids are getting the most incredible education around. 'There are certainly days, however, when I question our sanity in ever attempting this journey!

Sanity varies with the intensity of the moment at hand...:D

Also following your travels:thumb:

Just thought of something... I've got the article onmy computer! It's not the published version, but they didn't change anything. So - if anybody wants it, just send me an email and I'll send it to you. It won't be formatted for hte magazine, but the writitng is all there. And if you want the photos too, I can send them along with it!
