Kona Hoss for the Great Divide?

I am going to be riding the Great Divide Trail in the summer of 2010. I have limited experience with mountain biking, so until the trip, I am going to be doing a lot of mountain biking. I am still deciding which bike I should get. I don't want rear suspension, and I want something that is very strong. I will also be using a BOB Ibex. I was thinking of getting the Kona Hoss because it is meant for heavier people, and it is meant to take a lot of abuse. I already have some road touring experience and hiking experience.

I have a 06 Hoss Dlx ad while I like it's sturdyness when throwing it over ditches too wide to jump and going off drops, I wouldn't think about touring on it. Way overbuilt, heavy as sin and wildly responsive(might be better with a longer stem) it just isn't good for long trips. Maybe if it was on mud trails and unbroken forest, but from the pics a google search gave me you'd probably be better off with something a bit less rugged.
