Jandd Mountain Panniers - question
Anyone have experience with these? Found someone selling a pair locally on craigslist brand new for $50. I plan on touring from Chicago to San Diego this summer. I have been looking at the Axiom Lasalles but these are pretty cheap. Let me know, thanks!

I have set - they are extremely well made, yet reasonably light for the size. They have an expandable feature like a rucksack, and they have multiple straps to snug the load down - a nice feature if you ever plan to go off road. One of them has an external mesh pocket for wet clothes also.
The only drawbacks are the straps can be a bit fiddly (but secure the load well) and they are not very waterproof, so you would need the optional rain covers in rainy climates. Overall they work well, stay put and wear like iron. That is a great price for packs that will last you years.
On edit: the Mountain Panniers are sized to be used as front panniers or as smallish rear pans - if you are only using one pair of panniers you may want to look at the Large Mountain Panniers. See the Jandd site for comparison.
