Newbie Question

I'm looking into purchasing the Trek 7500. Need to confirm that the rear dropout on this bike is 135mm. Is that right?

Thanks
Steve

If its a 9 speed yes.
My buddy bought one last spring and had the same question.
But the bars and stem are not that great for touring.
The crank set is good for touring. Better than the crap that came with my new Sherpa 30.

Yes, it's a 9 speed. I'm looking to replace the bars with the "butterfly" trekking bar and most likely the Look Ergo stem as well. I've got about a year to put my dream bike together while I accumulate enough vacation time to take a 2-3 month tour next Spring.

UPDATE- After reading through all the valuable info on this forum I have decided that it is my best interest to take a ride out to the local bike shops in my area and take a good look at the Surly LHT. I love my (2) current Treks, and have no doubt I would enjoy the purchase of the 7500, but I really want to purchase the bike that will be best suited for my new hobby (long distance self supported touring).
