jandd rack question
So I have noticed recently that the length of the rack has very little to do with how far back the rack sits. Its all about the geometry of the rack. Think about it, you could put the longest rack real close to the bike and it would not be further behind you. Its all about the angles of the vertical struts. I care about this because even with an LHT, my heals almost touch my grocery panniers with my current rack. I've compared my rack with bike shop racks and it sits about average distance behind me. My current rack needs to be replaced for other reasons as well, so I'm looking for one that is equal distance or more away from the bike.
So my question... I'm buying some hooks from Jandd so it makes sense to get my rack from the company. I'm looking at the "standard" http://www.jandd.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=FRSTD. The 13.25 inches appears to be average for rack length, but like I mentioned already, that doesn't seem to matter anyway. Does anybody have this rack and comment on how far back it sits. Thanks scott |
