LHT & Topeak Explorer MTX Rack (Dumb ?)

Dumb I know, so forgive me. My first time attaching a rack. At least I realize that I'm stupid (that's half the battle).

The rack is about a half inch (quarter inch per side) wider than the place where the rack is to be attached at the bottom. Is this normal? I realize that when I attach it with screws, it would surely attach correctly and get ride of the extra space. Just wanted to make sure this is normal or to make sure I had a compatable rack with the LHT.

If this is not the norm or bent or something, what is compatable?

Are you using the thick rubber mounts that came with the rack?

I told you it was a stupid question. I haven't even looked at the instructions yet. I just took it out of the car for a quick look to see if the bag/rack would fit under my seat and just happened to notice it.

Leave it to me for it to be in the instructions manual.

I wished this post could self destruct in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 . . .

Not stupid! Just about the same question was asked today in the LHT/CC Surly google group. Those people are really helpful.
